Shoe Cove is on the Baie Verte Peninsula, just 7 km from La Scie. Shoe Cove Road runs south from Route 414 just outside of La Scie. The town is built around a small pond backdropped by tree covered mountains.
Follow the road through town past the grocery store and down to the harbour. A fast moving stream runs beside the road, under a boathouse and the road, out past the slipway dock into the harbour. That's where you'll find the amazing yellow wooden storage building built on the side of a cliff. The building is only accessible by boat.
We purchased a photograph of the building from our friend Frank Walters in September 2015, a year before we went to Shoe Cove. We have it hanging in our family room and were curious to see it in real life. The little harbour in Shoe Cove is one of the prettiest in Newfoundland.

The bread oven display is just up the road from the harbour. From here there is a trail that you can take up to a lookout.
Shoe Cove has a small grocery store where you can pick up a snack. The road into town is newly paved. It had been gravel and the town lobbied hard to get it upgraded. It's now the nicest road on the Baie Verte Peninsula. La Scie is only 10 minutes away and provides shopping and schools for Shoe Cove.
