While we were in Port au Choix we had the great fortune to meet Frank Walters. We had stopped at the Western Petroleum station, which you will see on your left as you come into Port au Choix. It is also home to C & V Convenience store. They also have a little gift store and I asked the owner if he had any t-shirts. He didn't, but he knew a guy who might have some. He started showing me some other items the same fellow was selling. He rang Frank up, who said he would be down in 5 minutes. Frank naturally showed up, explained that the car with all his work in it was at home dead in the driveway. He asked if we would follow him back to his place, which we did. Once there he showed us more of his work, stories behind them, and items that he was selling with his photos on them.

Self taught, Frank has a fantastic eye for colour and detail. His topics include boats, wildlife, sunsets and anything in between. The first image that we had seen was the one of the Pointe Riche Lighthouse shown below. It is actually a picture of a reflection in a puddle and the original image was taken upside down. The photo was featured on TV in Newfoundland, during the weather forecast.
Franks photos have won awards and it is really easy to see why. He does not use photoshop. He feels the photo should be shown as taken with no adjustments. We had a wonderful visit with Frank, he gave us some information regarding Port au Choix and we left feeling so very lucky to have met him.
