Lomond Campground is within Gros Morne National Park on the south side of East Arm of Bonne Bay. To reach Lomond Campground, take the Viking Trail (Route 430) from The Trans Canada Highway at Deer Lake. Turn left onto Highway 431 at Wiltondale. It's a 20 minute drive from Wiltondale. Don't confuse Lomond Campground with Lomond River Lodge, which is a private RV park on Route 431 right on the park boundary.
We did not set up at Lomond. It just happened to contain the trailhead for Stanleyville. Lomond Campground is a first come first serve campground. It is in a beautiful setting, right at the edge of the bay. There are 2 trails within the campground, Lomond River and Stanleyville, which we did.

The campground is the former site of the town of Lomond and a wood mill that were built in 1916 by the St. Lawrence Timber, Pulp & Steamship Company. Unlike many of the communities in this area Lomond was a lumber town. Between resettlement efforts in the 1960's and the creation of the Gros Morne National Park in 1973, Lomond disappeared.
Lomond Campground is within 20 minutes of Woody Point, The Gros Morne National Park Interpretation Centre and The Tablelands.
